한국 개화기 삽화 속 여성상의 시각적 표상: 

1895-1909년의 교과서 사례연구

A Visual Representation of a Female Image in Illustrations during Enlightenment Period in Korea: A Case Study of Textbooks from 1895 to 1909

이 연구에서는 인쇄, 출판, 복제를 통해 대중성을 갖게 되는 근대의 교과서 삽화라는 매체를 통해 개화기 여성상의 실체를 규명하고자 한다. 이 글에서는 인간 중심적인 유교를 바탕으로 타인과 더불어 일과 어울림의 활동을 하는 조선 시대 여성상에, 모성을 바탕으로 도덕심이 강한 근대의 여성상이 합쳐진 1895년에서 1909년 사이에 출판된 개화기 교과서 삽화의 여성상을 서술한다.

This study is to examine the reality of women’s image in modern era, identified through the textbook illustrations, a medium that acquires popular appeal  by printing, publication, and reproduction. This paper will specify images of women in modern textbooks published between 1895 and 1909. In this period, image of women in Joseon Dynasty, in which women were depicted as working and networking with others based on human-centered Confucianism, and that of modern era which is highlighted by strong morality as well as maternity were combined.
