이 글은 1953~1999년 한국 크리스마스 씰의 디자인 변천 과정을 살펴보고, 크리스마스 씰에 표현된 그래픽의 내용, 대상, 표현방식의 분석을 통해 씰이 한국 근현대 역사와 문화를 어떻게 반영하고 있으며, 그 시대의 상징으로 자리 잡고 있는지 입체적으로 고찰하고자 한다. 크리스마스 씰을 통해 한 나라의 시대상을 씰 이라는 이미지가 어떻게 담아내고 있는지 살펴볼 수 있는 상징적 자료로서의 가능성을 발견하고, 역사적 자료로서 우리나라의 사회상을 보여주는 것을 이 연구의 목적으로 한다.

This study explores the development of Korean Christmas Seal designs from 1953 to 1999 and examines how the graphic designs and contents of these seals reflect culture and history of modern Korea and how these seals become a symbol of the times. It aims to emphasize the significance of Christmas Seals as a symbolic and historical material that reflects Korea’s social aspects.
