*ICDHS(international committee for design history and design studies)는
디자인사와 디자인학을 다루는 연구 공동체로 1999년 스페인 바르셀로나에서
첫 번째 컨퍼러스를 개최하며 시작했습니다. 이후 2년마다 열리는 컨퍼런스를 통해
경계를 넘나드는 디자인 연구의 확장과 가능성을 보여주고 있습니다.
2016년의 컨퍼런스 주제는 ‘Making Trans/National Contemporary Design History’로
타이완이 갖는 독특한 역사성을 바탕으로 합니다. 복잡하지만 풍부한 역사적 자원,
국제정치적 상황 속에서 대만의 정체성을 찾아가는 과정은 현대 대만 디자인에서도
그대로 표출되고 있습니다. 뿐만 아니라 이러한 역사/사회적 맥락은 디자인사와
디자인학의 주요한 쟁점으로 논의 되고 있습니다.
