Presentation at ICDHS 2022
디자인역사문화 전공 석사과정 한수현 학생이 2022년 10월 19일~21일 콜롬비아 보고타와 온라인 방식을 통해 동시에 진행된 ICDHS 2022에 참가했습니다. ICDHS는 1999년을 시작으로 격년으로 열리는 디자인역사 및 디자인연구 국제학회로, 13회째 개최된 이번 학회는 <Other Designs. Practices and peripheries> 라는 큰 주제 아래 9가지의 다양한 소주제로 나뉘어 진행되었으며, 그중 ‘Consumption and material culture, new historiographical visions’라는 주제에 연구를 공모, 발표하였습니다.
‘The Characteristics of White-powder Packaging Design and Consumption Culture in Colonial Chosŏn (Korea), 1920s-1930s’ 연구는 식민지 체제 아래에 형성된 소비문화의 구조와 성격을 바탕으로, 일제강점기 조선에서 유통된 일본산 백분과 조선산 백분을 포장디자인차원에서 비교 분석하고 당시 조선 백분 포장디자인과 소비문화의 관계를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하는 연구입니다.

ICDHS 13 <Other Designs. Practices and peripheries>, 19th-21st October 2022, was held at Universidad de Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano. Shuhyun Han a student in the master’s course of Design History and Cultural Studies and Prof. Kim Min-Soo presented “The Characteristics of White-powder Packaging Design and Consumption Culture in Colonial Chosŏn (Korea), 1920s-1930s”.
This study aims to clarify characteristics of consumption culture formed under the colonial system by a comparative analysis of the Japanese and Cho-sŏn ‘white-powder’ packaging designs distributed in colonial Cho-sŏn.
